Making an Appointment
25/04/13 18:22
We have become aware of the frustration that some patients may experience when trying to arrange an appointment particularly if it is with their GP of choice. While we try to facilitate this type of appointment for routine reviews or non-urgent issues, this is not always possible for urgent or emergency problems.
We appreciate that there has been a lack of clarity about the way appointments are made available and have therefore thought of ways to make this easier to explain and understand.
The “Traffic Light” system has been developed and discussed with the Eastfield Medical Centre Patient Participation Group. We hope that this helps patients access medical advice within a timescale which is appropriate for their level of priority.
We aim to offer routine “ GREEN” appointments with a doctor of your choice within 2 weeks. We also offer appointments at 07h30 on Monday and Friday mornings.
For “RED” urgent and emergency medical problems, we can offer you an assessment on the day.
We also offer an 11am “sit and wait” appointment but please note that you will see the first available doctor. You will of course be able to express a preference of male or female doctor if you wish and one is available. It is also worth noting that this slot may become oversubscribed if patients access this service instead of Green appointments which may be more appropriate.

Patient Participation Group

The surgery is in the process of giving our patients the opportunity to be involved in the decisions related to the services we provide. The intention is to have a representative sample of patients in order to gain the opinions of our service users and in this way to better tailor the services to the needs of the practice population.
If you would like to be involved and can spare some time to answer some questions, could you please complete the questionnaire on our practice website and it will be sent via email it to the practice site webmaster.

In order to keep you up to date with surgery events and notifications, we now have a twitter page. You may either check the updates on the announcements page on our site or follow us if you have a twitter account. Please note that this account will not be used to respond to comments or as a forum for discussion. No confidential or patient identifiable information will be posted.
